Last week we gave you an inside look at a couple of pages from Alpha Flight #3. Since there aren't many other pages or panels we can show you from that issue without "spoiling" some key plot points, this week we thought we'd give you a behind-the-scenes look at the early stages of cover design.
As you can see in the gallery below, it can sometimes take several sketches before everyone agrees on THE design and concept that should grace the cover!
WARNING: Possible spoilers if you haven't yet read issue #1!
For issue #3, Dale had a few ideas. One involved Shaman in a sweat lodge, meditating, surrounded by visions that included snakes, PM Cody and Vindicator.
Another showed Guardian in an underground water pipe, with marching boots shown above, at street level. The image was intended to represent "going underground."
The final image that was chosen is the one with Guardian lying on the ground in a pool of blood, with the arms of his fellow Flight members draped across him.
As you've probably noticed by now, all of Dale's variants have featured the upside-down maple leaf, a symbol of distress...
So tell us, Flight fans, which is your favourite?

The upside down leaf image is much more sophisticated that way.
The Shaman sweat lodge cover would have been awesome too, but I don't know enough about the goings on inside sweat lodges to be able to appreciate it, to be honest.
